Educational Objectives

As a result of this activity, participants will be better able to:

  • Explain the process for ordering and receiving COVID-19 vaccine
  • Summarize COVID-19 vaccine storage and handling requirements (including transport requirements)
  • Describe how to manage vaccine inventory, including accessing and managing product expiration dates
  • Define ACIP COVID-19 Vaccine Recommendations    
  • Describe the Vaccine Provider’s Role in Vaccine Administration
  • Explain the Principles of COVID-19 Vaccine Preparation
  • Summarize Vaccine Adverse Reactions and Reporting

Target Audience

Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Dentists, Nurses, Pharmacists, Emergency Medical Technicians who vaccinate or manage vaccines.

Accreditation

Physicians

Boston University School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Boston University School of Medicine designates this enduring material for a maximum of 3.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurses

Boston University School of Medicine Continuing Nursing Education is accredited with distinction as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Pharmacists

Pharmacists are eligible to receive credit for AMA PRA Category 1 courses in Massachusetts.

Emergency Medical Technicians

Emergency Medical Technicians are eligible to receive credit through the Massachusetts Office of Emergency Medical Services. Approval Number 2122-R0-00115-T3.

Dentists and Registered Hygienists

Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine is an ADA CERP recognized provider.

ADA CERP is a service of the American Dental Association to assist dental professionals in identifying quality providers of continuing dental education. ADA CERP does not approve or endorse individual courses or instructors, nor does it imply acceptance of credit hours by boards of dentistry.

Risk Management

This program meets the criteria of the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine for risk management study.

In order to successfully complete this activity, you are required to view/read the training modules and complete the posttest and evaluation. CME/NCPD credit will be awarded provided a score of 70% or better is achieved.  The post-test may be re-taken.  A certificate of credit for immediate download to those who successfully complete the examination.
